Privacy Policy

This privacy policy outlines how we handle your information when you visit misbah.co (hereinafter referred to as "the website").

Information We Collect

This site uses a few analytics and infrastructure services. None of the data is ever sold. One of them, the Meta pixel, is an advertising tool, and it is listed last and described plainly rather than folded in with the rest.

  • Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool. It records aggregated, anonymized visits and does not collect personally identifiable information.
  • Google Analytics 4, used to understand traffic sources and which writing people actually read. Google sets cookies and processes this data on its own infrastructure, under Google's privacy policy.
  • Microsoft Clarity, used to see how pages are used and where they are confusing. It records session replays, which can include your mouse movement, scrolling and clicks on a page.
  • Google Tag Manager, a container used to load and manage the tags above. It does not collect anything by itself, but it can load additional measurement tags, and the current set is managed outside this website's source code.
  • Cloudflare, which serves and protects the site and may set cookies for security and performance purposes.
  • Meta pixel, an advertising tracker from the company behind Facebook and Instagram. Unlike everything above it, it reports your visit to an advertising network that can connect it to your Facebook or Instagram account and to your activity on other sites carrying the same tag. It does not load unless you accept the cookie banner. If you never accept, it never runs.

Between them, the information collected includes:

  • The pages you visit on this site
  • The duration of your visit
  • The referring website (if any)
  • Your operating system, device and browser type
  • Your approximate location, derived from your IP address rather than precise geolocation

To be accurate rather than reassuring: Google Analytics and Cloudflare do set cookies, and Google Analytics involves sharing your visit data with Google as a processor. Analytics, Clarity and Umami load as soon as you arrive; the Meta pixel is the only one that waits for you to accept the banner. If you would rather avoid all of it, a browser-level content blocker or the Global Privacy Control signal will stop these scripts from loading.

The Contact Form

If you send a message through the contact form, the name, email address, and message you type are emailed directly to me. Along with them I receive the approximate location Cloudflare derives from your IP address (typically city and country), your IP address itself, your timezone, and your network provider.

That context is there for two reasons: to tell a real enquiry apart from automated spam, and to know roughly what timezone you are in before replying. It is not stored in a database, not used for profiling or advertising, and not shared with anyone. It lives only in the email that lands in my inbox. The form is also protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that you are not a bot.

How We Use Information

Analytics data is used solely to understand traffic patterns and improve the site's content and experience: which pages are popular, how people navigate, and where something is not working. It is not used for advertising, retargeting, or profiling, and no automated decisions are made about you.

The Meta pixel is the exception, and it is an exception by design rather than by oversight. If you accept the cookie banner, it is used for advertising: reporting your visit to Meta so that ads can be measured and targeted. That is described in full above. If you do not accept, it never loads.

Data Storage and Sharing

No personal data about visitors is stored on this site's own infrastructure. Analytics data is processed and stored by the providers named above, each according to their own privacy policy.

Beyond those providers acting as processors, information collected is never shared, sold, rented, or otherwise disclosed to third parties.
